Rep kits are a great way to fix your equipment until you are able to get to the trailhead and have it repaired professionally. The challenge is knowing what to do with it when you need it.

In the long run, home repaired dentures could lead to faster bone loss, continuing irritation, sores and tumors.

Tools

The right tools are available is essential when you are in the field. This kit is designed to meet that need and contains all the basic hand tools needed to repair things in the field. The tools are made from steel with minimal plastic to ensure they can withstand use. The kit includes an elasticized canvas coalcracker tool pouch and includes awl, reamer, twist awl, cutting shears, gimlet (5MM) sinue spools made of wood, a bottle of coalcracker tool oil and illustrated instructions.

Repair Patches

If you've got holes or two in your gear, think about adding some adhesive patches to your rep kit. These patches are made of high-performance glue applied on a rugged polyurethane back that lets a tear that is triggered by pressure to heal. The patches are available in colors or clear versions and provide durability against punctures as well as moisture, sunlight as well as extreme temperatures and saltwater.

If your kit does not include any of the items above You may want to consider adding a waterproof Aquaseal wader sealant. This water-tight glue can be applied to fabrics, plastics, metals and more for permanent repair. This is great for repairing drysuits and can also be used in the field. Adhesive Patches

If you're out on the trail and don't have the time for an entire vulcanising repair this adhesive patch can get you back on the saddle without the wait. Apply the self-adhesive patch and roll it over.

Thoroughly clean the punctured area Then, apply the tube-scuffer or sandpaper to roughen the surface, which makes it easier for glue to stick. Spread a thin layer of glue on the patch that covers an area at least as big as the patch itself. Take a few moments for the glue to become tacky before pressing the patch into place and holding it firmly in the desired position.

This kit contains two adhesive-backed, clear Tenacious Tape fabric repair patches. It also comes with an ounce Seam Grip urethane sealant and repair adhesive. It is ideal for reinforcing damaged sleeping bags, rainwear and packs.
